Flour tortillas

I have been looking for a good recipe for a while. I have had some issues in the past getting them the way I wanted them. Found this youtube tutorial the other night, tried it out, and the results were amazingly good. The recipe is also large enough to make a lot of tortillas which was another problem with other recipes, as they never seemed to make enough. We had enough for dinner for 4, with enough left over to do wraps for lunches all week.

  1. Hello, I just found your blog by way of who-knows-what. I am a full-time working mom, but we are working towards me getting to stay home and possibly have more children (we have one now. One of the ways that we are trying to do that is by decreasing our eating out. I am trying to get into meal planning (I lvoe to cook, so that part is easy). I looked at one of your shopping lists (the one where you said you went over budget $215), and I am wondering how much you usually spend on groceries per month - and of course what area of the country you live in. I am working on looking at prices of foods right now so that I can get started Feb 1st.

  2. I usually spend between $300 and $400 a month for 4 people in MI. I am trying to get it back toward $200 (and this month I am just over $220 and not likely to spend much more so not too bad)

Aldi, sales, and meal planning are honestly the only way I can keep my costs down. When I stray from that, I start creeping back up. I started doing meal planning around sales which knocked my costs down quite a bit.

  3. What a great video! I've been wanting to try to make my own for a little while now, but I think I will finally give it a try after seeing it step by step. I'm totally a visual learner, and this was great!

    Thanks!

  4. Thanks for the video link. My last batch of tortillas were actually mostly close to round.
